Living Reliquary

Living Reliquary came about after a visit to Death Becomes Her: A Century of Mourning Attire at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After Verónica and I began collaborating, we instigated projects that featured our individual skills. This was a means for us to show the other what was being brought to the table within the partnership. Living Reliquary is a Victorian mourning sculpture – a wearable reliquary made of onyx and custom cast sterling silver that features the intertwined hair of both my surrogate mother and biological mother. The hair rests on velvet.
